Consultation and Treatment
What will happen on my first visit? On presentation to the Hale Clinic a form will be provided to take personal details and basic
medical history. I will then take a full case history regarding the symptoms you are presenting with including other pertinent medical questions.

You will then undergo a full physical examination involving postural assessment, motion palpation and a thorough orthopaedic and neurological exam. An explanation of the findings and diagnosis will be provided and with consent treatment will commence there and then. If the diagnosis is a condition that I cannot treat I shall refer you accordingly; this may mean to your GP,a fellow health care practicioner such as an acupuncturist, podiatrist etc or perhaps very rarely hospital should the condition be an emergency.
What will treatment involve? The basis of chiropractic treatment involves manipulation. This is where a stiff joint is taken to the end of its (limited) movement and an impulse specifically applied to free the joint. When the joint releases a "crack" is often heard. This is may be a little uncomfortable but not painful. Often as patients get used to the relief experienced with treatment they can actually find they start enjoying it! However, as chiropractors we use many different techniques including mobilisation, massage techniques and many types of stretches. It can also involve the use of modalities such as interferential (TENS) and ultrasound.
What happens after the initial treatment? Each time you present you will be
re-examined and
appropriate techniques applied which can mean that treatment differs in type and location.
As most disorders I treat are brought on by misuse of our bodies on a daily basis I may suggest examination and treatment from time to time to keep the joints and muscles loose and the pain at bay. This is strictly on a personal basis and as no 2 people are the same, this advice will be catered to each and every individual.
