Chiropractic is the 3rd largest primary health care profession in the world after medicine and dentistry. A primary provider is one that can both diagnose
and treat.
Chiropractic is a non-invasive profession that looks to encourage the bodys natural ability to heal. It does not involve the use of medication or surgery while acknowledging there are situations where this may be ultimately necessary.
In this way it is appropriate care for aches and pains in
pregnancy and for those stubborn niggles that have become constant pain with
advancing age.
We look at how the joints, muscles and nervous system interact (neuromusculoskeletal specialists) and when dysfunction is detected we look to correct it. To do this we employ a variety of physical techniques but also look to rehabilitation, patient education and lifestyle modification to enhance and prolong recovery.

For massage I use high quality
aromatherapy oils including lavender, rosemary and arnica.
I may use an instrument called an
Activator which is a small tool that applies a direct measured impulse to a joint, and is a useful alternative to manipulation.
I also use
Dry Needling (acupuncture) as an adjunctive therapy when appropriate.
I am fully trained in a specific soft tissue technique called Neuro-Muscular Reeducation (which you may be familiar with as Active Release Technique.) This approach uses active contraction of the muscles coupled with deep massage strokes to achieve fast and long term muscle relaxation.
